Obituary of Angel Casten

Angeles Casten (Ong), beloved wife of the late Artemio Casten, of Calgary, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the age of 89 years.

Born in Iloilo City, Philippines, Mama Angel attended Colegio del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus and graduated with a high school diploma. She was an active member of the Devonian Garden Seniors Group and volunteered at the Elbow River Casino. Mama Angel was a dedicated housewife and enjoyed cooking, shopping, playing slot machines, and spending time with her grandchildren and friends.

Her greatest achievement in life was the precious moments she shared with her twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She had a passion for cooking and loved to host family gatherings. Mama Angel's most memorable vacation was when she reunited with her sister Elisa after five years, in the Philippines, at the age of 84 years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Arnold Casten (Darlene) and Anthony Casten of Calgary; and her three daughters, Azinette Casten, Cynthia Chortier (Alan), and Arlene Casten (Dodi) of Calgary. Mama Angel will also be dearly missed by her twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, whom she adored and cherished. She is predeceased by her husband Artemio Sr., two children, Artemio Jr. and Anthem; parents, and one sister Marilou Cajamic.

Thank you to all family and friends for paying their respects and for being here to celebrate the life of Mama Angel. In her words, "Life is fleeting, so make sure to live life to the fullest while it lasts." She will always be remembered for her motto, "Way to go!"

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
