Obituary of Yvonne Lauretta Morgan
August 21, 1931 – Broadview, Saskatchewan
August 4, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Our beloved Yvonne passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at the age of 92 years. She lived a long and full life that centered around her family and friends. Yvonne was born on August 21, 1931, in Broadview, SK where her father worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway. Her family later moved to Bredenbury, SK, where she graduated from high school in 1948 before moving to Moose Jaw. Yvonne was proud of her Saskatchewan roots and often reminisced about her youth, telling stories about her family and friends, with whom she actively maintained lifelong relationships.
In 1957, she married Farrell Morgan in Calgary, living briefly in Edmonton, before returning to Calgary in 1960. They led a busy married life, devoting their time to their two sons, Darcy and Darren. They were long-time residents of the community of Glenbrook and enjoyed visiting with their neighbours and friends, walking their dogs, and watching the birds at Glenmore Park. After Farrell passed away in 2002, Yvonne continued to live in the family home until 2022.
Yvonne always kept busy. She enjoyed bowling in her earlier years, was an avid Flames fan, a voracious reader, and was involved with various church groups. Even at the age of 92, she remained active in the community. She loved to socialize with her long-time friends, going out for get-togethers with them whenever she could and sharing “a few good laughs”. Yvonne was also involved with Good Companions 50+ for about the past 20 years, which provided her with countless opportunities for fun and fulfillment. She enjoyed going to various events and outings while treasuring the dear friends she made there.
Above all, Yvonne cherished her family! She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Darcy (Debra) and Darren (Elizabeth). Yvonne’s face would light up whenever she spoke of her grandchildren, Jaime (Ross), Ty (Anna), Jeremy (Tabetha), Levi (Noelle), and Kellan (Faith); and her great-grandchildren, Riley, Peyton, Kashus, Mila, and Ronin.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Shalem Haven Senior Living for the care and support they provided for Yvonne over the past two years. Also, special thanks to Dr. Bakare and the staff of Unit 62 at the Foothills Medical Centre.
Yvonne will be remembered with a private family Celebration of Life.
