Obituary of Paul Durant

November 18, 1951 – Leeds, England
August 5, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandad, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend, Paul Durant. Paul was a man whose whole world revolved around his family, specifically his nine grandchildren whom he cherished more than anything else in this world.

For 28 years, he dedicated his life to serving the community as a loyal employee of Calgary Transit. He was known for his unwavering dedication and commitment to his job. Paul also drove for the Weyburn handy-bus with pride and professionalism.  His most recent source of joy came from driving the trolley for the Calgary Stampede, where “Trolley Paul” delighted in bringing smiles to the faces of all who rode with him, especially the children through “Stampede School” for the past ten years.

Paul touched the lives of many with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith.  He was nominated twice to receive the prestigious White Hat award, was an active member of the Knights of Columbus for many years, drove the Santa bus at Christmas for the City of Calgary, and loved Sherlock Holmes.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.  May he rest in peace, knowing that his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Paul is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Donna, his four children Jennifer, James (Jodi), Liza (Jason), and Andrew (Shawna); his nine grandchildren Elias, Rylee, Emma, Adrian, Sara, Layla, Jacob, Tayven and Elvis; and two adopted grandchildren Talon and Lucas.

Memorial Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. All are welcome to attend.
