Condolences
When Kyle and my mother started seeing eachother, i was in my early 20s and things between him and i weren't the best at the beginning as i was quite standoffish, kept conversations short that sort of thing, as many young men would with their mothers new boyfriend.
Over the next months, Kyle would bring up conversations about my interests, my job, different car things political stuff, things like that. No matter how standoffish i was with him he would always try to befriend, and i realized he was a truly genuine person just trying his hardest to build a relationship with his fiancees son. He was so determined to build that relationship with me and my sister he succeeded in that way, and i think that says alot about the man i got the honor of knowing and just in recent years started calling my stepfather. The things he taught me and the role he played in my life will never be forgotten, he left a huge legacy behind and I intend to do the same.
Anna and I have countless memories with Kyle and my mother, one that we will cherish forever is the first time Anna was taken to the Calgary Stampede and Kyle wanted to be the tour guide of Calgary going to different parts around downtown and the Stampede Grounds itself. That day formed a special bond between us all we think along with countless other outings we all had. He will truly be missed and his legacy will live on.
Kyle was genuine and an absolute legend. I’ll never forget the time spent with Kyle and Yolanta at one of the many nights across the country. Kyle had the vigour and power to brighten any room with his positivity and kindness. Kyle will be deeply missed.
My cousin Kyle, where does one begin? He was brilliant and funny! He was always entertaining and loving. He was a wonderful person. He always made people feel welcomed. Yola, my deepest sympathies and prayers are with you and your family. Natalie Hutchinson (cousin ) & William Roy Kidd (uncle)
My Deepest condolences to the Family, i am shocked to hear this news. Kyle was an amazing person and will be missed. He always brought light and good energy when he walked in the bank. I used to say he made my day whenever he came. We will miss his beautiful smile and positive energy. May he REST IN PEACE.

My sincere condolences Yolanta and Family. Continue to rest in peace, Kyle
My memories of Kyle would not be complete without the story of him marching and piping a group of friends through a McDonalds drive-thru to place an order in the early hours of the morning following a Burns night celebration. He is missed.
My sincere condolences Yolanta and Family. The world has lost a true gentleman, the love he showed for Yolanta was inspiring. Kyle lit up the room when he walked in, his infectious laugh drew people in and if you ever wanted a great story he was the one to tell it. It's clear that heaven was in need of a renaissance man and Kyle was called to fill the role, rest in peace Kyle. Yolanta you are in my daily thoughts and prayers.
Please accept my sincere condolences.
I knew Kyle from the LL.B./MBA program at Western. There were only 8 of us in this program, so we got to be quite close over those four demanding, intense years.
My favourite memory of our graduation actually involves Kyle. After I walked across the stage and got my degrees, Kyle was still backstage. He scooped me up in his arms and danced down the hallway with me, degrees, academic regalia, dress, and feet flying through the air, in sheer jubilation at getting those pieces of paper and being finished. That's how I'll remember him.
To know Kyle was to know not only an amazing man but a great mason and friend. I very much enjoyed my time with him in lodge and on the motorcycle runs we attended. The world will be a poorer place with him gone.
The family of the Everts send condolences to Kathie’s family for the loss of your brother, REST IN Peace
“The greatest gift is a portion of yourself.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
My dear friend, a mentor, a brother, and a pillar of strength, has left an indelible mark on my life. His passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but also a lingering awe that will ever inspire us.
He was more than just a mentor, a colleague, a friend, and a stand-up comic (even when he wasn't intending to be one); he was a guiding light, a beacon of wisdom in the tumultuous waters of law and life. His mentorship and friendship was invaluable, shaping my career and my law firm in ways I could never have imagined.
Beyond the realm of law, he introduced me to the rich traditions of Freemasonry, a brotherhood that has enriched my life in countless ways. His guidance and support were instrumental in my journey through this noble institution.
He was a generous soul, offering his basement as a workspace when I was starting my law firm. This act of kindness not only provided a physical space but also a symbol of his unwavering belief in my potential.
His Scottish heritage was a source of pride and joy. The skirling sound of his bagpipes echoing across southwest Calgary at dawn was both comforting and hilarious — at least to my sister, Ellie, and I — but maybe not so much to the neighbours below. He was a true character, a gentle giant with a heart of gold.
Though he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide those who knew him. I am forever grateful for his friendship and mentorship. Sending all my love to Yola and Kyle's extended family during this difficult time.
I was devastated to learn of Kyle's passing. I have known him since the mid 1980's when he joined the fraternity. We have been friends, law partners and colleagues over the many years. My fondest memories of Kyle were always he unrelenting enthusiasm to play his bag pipes on any and every occasion. From early morning tee times to my own wedding, Kyle's bagpipes were ubiquitous. I always enjoyed his hearty laugh, bigger than life personality and his endless energy. He was truly a character to remember and my life is diminished by his passing. My deepest condolences to all who knew and loved him.
Sincere condolences from the Tyler family! He is kindly remembered as recruiting our sons John and Mike as the first to join the 2nd round of youth in the Old 78th Fraser HIghlanders at Simon Fraser Junior High, a few decades ago. This led to me becoming a co-member with him in the Calgary Police Service Pipe Band and an NCO with the Old 78th and the CPSPB. Many happy memories!

Such an amazing man! WBro Scott impacted the Masonic family in ways we may never truly understand. The craft will forever be stronger because of his efforts. While no longer with us physically, Kyle will forever be in our hearts. #itshiptobesquare.
Kyle really was the energy in the room, the positive energy! He had a way of making you feel welcome and valued whether it was on the campaign trail or as a guest in his and Yola's beautiful home. Together the two of them were the best of hosts and I'm sure there are many others like us who were looking forward with enthusiasm to future political events. Really going to miss Kyle's sense of humour and his warm-hearted smile.
For 45 of his 60 years, Kyle Scott was a proud member of the Old 78th Fraser Highlanders. When he joined the Frasers in 1979, Kyle was a few years older than the rest of the lads. Possessing natural leadership qualities, he went on to become the first Pipe Major of the Fort Calgary Youth Squad and spent his first summer with the Headquarters Band on Ste-Helene’s Island in Montreal learning the ropes.
A passionate student of everything with the unique gift of ‘audiographic memory’ (instant recall on everything he has ever heard), much like a person with photographic memory, Kyle breezed through his law degree and an MBA at Western University in London, Ontario – with honours, and ended up on the Dean’s List.
If any one person can be credited with doing his utmost to keep the Fraser organization alive and well in Calgary, it would have to be Kyle. For the past 45 years, he has served in many roles including his appointment as Officer Commanding Fort Calgary Garrison.
This summer, I was fortunate enough to audit a couple of his Scottish History lectures during Fraser Band Camp at The Military Museums - and was amazed at his passionate, colourful and spellbinding delivery of early Scottish History. Following his illuminated history lessons, I remarked that he should be recorded for posterity. Too late for that now!
Possessing a passionate disposition, his friends would all say that Kyle certainly lived large – a remark that was quickly followed by what a fabulous, tolerant and understanding wife he had found in Yola!
Thanks for sharing time on Earth with us Kyle - you will be sorrily missed – and remembered by many.

On behalf of the Calgary Burns Club, we wish to send our sincere condolences to the Scott and Sochacki family.
Few hearts like his, with virtue warm'd,
Few heads with knowledge so inform'd;
If there's another world, he lives in bliss;
If there is none, he made the best of this.

My prayers for comfort and resilience in spirit for the sudden loss of an exceptionally vibrant and thoughtful human. Kyle left such an impression on anyone who had the chance to work with him. We were fortunate to know him for over 25years and it’s never a dull moment with Kyle. His endless history lectures and political rants were always more entertaining than not. He was generous with his time and friendship. Yolanta, you have also been so kind and showed incredible partnership with Kyle. May God’s love and peace be comforting during this difficult time.

To the Scott Family:
We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences for your loss. Kyle was an an amazingly talented and energic person with a overwhelmingly generous personality. Through his many interests, including Law, Military Matters, Scottish History, Piping, Politics, Calgary, Alberta and beyond, he touched and enhanced the lives of many people. Kyle's connection with The 78th Fraser Highlanders in particular provided a tremendous life-long benefit for many young people in Calgary over the years and to many of their parents as well. Kyle was a uniquely talented and vivacious person and he will be greatly missed.

My wife and I met Kyle over the past year for legal matters. His energy and excitement was the first thing everyone recalls about him. Always available to chat on short notice. It was just on Aug 2 that I spoke to him about some work related matters and his final words to me was "talk soon Abi". Even though we knew him for a very short time, we will miss him dearly. Our condolences to the family. We pray he rests in peace in his eternal journey.
Dear Yolanta and family,
I am a fellow volunteer board member and enjoyed my association with your husband starting in February 2021.
Kyle was a "big brain." His analysis and recommendations were always "spot on." He had a great sense of humour and he was a true Albertan. The practice of law was exactly what he was meant to do.
I was shocked and saddened by the news of his passing and the tragic accident. I am so sorry, but was thankful that you were spared. I can only imagine the trauma that you have experienced. I am holding good thoughts for your recovery and for your family. This tragic news really hit home for me. I am just a few years older than Kyle, and my family is on that stretch of road many times per year. The accident reminded me to be thankful for today, and to tell my husband and kids that I love them.
With prayers,
Joan Kovacik
I am very sorry for your sudden loss, Kyle was a friend from the office at Suncor. Although we did not work directly together, we made friends quickly and had many a hall way laughs. I remember Kyle as an intelligent kind man that any one of us would be compelled to follow and emulate. A special guy with a great sense of humor.
