Obituary of Tan Hoa Vu 巫桂华

August 28, 1956 - Ha Giang, Vietnam

August 8, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tan Hoa Vu, on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the age of 67 years. Born in Vietnam, he immigrated to Canada in the 1970s not knowing any English, with little money or education but built a life rich in adventure and unforgettable memories.

Whether he was sharing stories from his journeys, hosting parties, or enjoying a drink with family and friends, he brought people together and created a lifetime of cherished moments. He will be most remembered as the “Party Uncle”.

His generous nature and caring spirit touched the lives of many, always offering a helping hand or a kind word when needed most. His four daughters - Connie, Shirley, Anna, and Susie - were his pride and joy, and he made sure that they knew they were loved unconditionally. His legacy lives on in the laughter and love of his wife, Lai Wah Yee; his daughters; his three sons-in-law; and his five grandchildren.

Tan Hoa is survived by his mother, two brothers, three sisters-in-law, three sisters and three brothers-in-law; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was predeceased by a younger brother and his father.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB) on Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB) on Monday, August 19, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens (1605 100 Street SE, Calgary, AB).
