Bert Yuen, beloved husband of Susan Yuen (nee Wong), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the age of 89 years.
Bert was born in Toishan, China, on November 18, 1934, and immigrated to Calgary, AB, in 1965.
Bert married Susan on May 3, 1963. He was one of the founding members of the Gee Oak Tin Benevolent Association, where he held the roles of Secretary and Treasurer. Bert worked in the restaurant business for over 40 years and loved cooking Chinese cuisine for all the family gatherings. Bert accomplished much throughout his life and was particularly proud of his hard work ethic, love of good food, and spending time with his family. Bert enjoyed talking to people and had a passion for striking up a conversation with anyone.
He will be most remembered for his joyful smile and friendly greetings.
Bert will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 61 years, Susan, his daughter and son-in-law, Corinna and Kam, of Seattle, Washington; his son and daughter-in-law, David and Lisa of Calgary, AB; his six grandchildren, Brandon, Cameo, Kevin, Christine, Kyle, and Clarissa; his two great-grandchildren, Violet and Everly; and his extended relatives, friends, and colleagues.
