Obituary of Edyta Katarzyna Kozak
April 22, 1973 – Wroclaw, Poland
August 13, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
In a room filled with love, Edyta Kozak passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 10:37 p.m.
Edyta was born on April 22, 1973, in Wroclaw, Poland, emigrating to Canada with her family at the age of nine. As a child, Edyta's strong will and mischievous spirit were evident. She was the kind of person who naturally took charge, often leading her siblings and cousins with a rebellious yet endearing energy. Her beauty and magnetic personality made it no surprise that she was popular and well-liked by her peers at Chestermere High School, from which she graduated in 1992.
Continuing her journey to further education, Edyta pursued studies at the University of Calgary, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, becoming the first to achieve a post-secondary education in her family. Edyta’s dedication to self-development paved the way for a successful career in Human Resources, a field in which she excelled for over 25 years.
Above her professional achievements, it was Edyta's love for her family that truly defined her. Her son Tristan was the center of her world. Edyta was at the heart of her extended family, often bringing people together, for a small gathering or a larger celebration. Her home was a place of warmth, love, and laughter, filled with the company of the friends and family she held so dear.
Edyta also had a deep love for travel, and some of her most cherished memories were made during trips to visit family in Poland and France. She embraced every moment, especially during the spring and summer months when she could be found camping with Daniel and Tristan, rain or shine.
Left to remember Edyta is her son Tristan, his father Daniel, nephew Ricky, sister Ewelina (James), sibling Tony, loving mother Barbara, and stepfather Bob. Edyta also leaves behind a Babcia, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, here and in Poland and Germany, all of whom she adored. Edyta shared special bonds with her aunt Bo, uncle Randy, and cousins Margaret, Monica, and Angela. She is predeceased by her father Ryszard, two Dziadzias, and a Babcia.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the amazing staff at the South Health Campus ICU for their gentle care of Edyta in her final days.
She's got a smile that it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories
Where everything was as fresh as the bright blue sky
Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that special place
And if I stared too long, I'd probably break down and cry
