August 14, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Andrew Morris of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the age of 53 years.
Andrew was born in Edmonton, AB, on April 2, 1971.
Andrew is survived by his two sons, Evan and Louie Morris; partner Sara Barton, parents, Thomas and Margaret Morris; brothers, Thomas Morris (Anne Bjerke) of Dublin, IRE, and Cameron Morris (Niloofar Zabihi) of San Jose, CA; sister Katie Marchant (Christian Marchant) of Diamond Valley, AB, and dear cousin, and best friend Christopher Battersby. Andrew has numerous aunts, uncles and extended family across the world, who loved him dearly. Andrew was loved by his nephews and nieces, Sam (Lauren) and Isabel Marchant, Nicolai and Sophia Morris, and Branden Morris.
Andrew was born in 1971, and according to his mum, Andrew “rented space from her for eight and a half months, came out running and never stopped”. Andrew had many escapades with Thomas, Cameron, Katie, and his cousins, Lindsay, Chris, and Heather in St. Albert and Victoria. He was raised in Victoria, BC where he had many close friends. In Victoria, he met the mother of his children, Jody Morris. Together they travelled to Thailand exploring the world and igniting a true passion for travel and cuisine. Eventually, they moved to Calgary, where they had Evan and Louie.
Later in his life, he met his partner Sara Barton and shared their home with Evan, Louie, and Bailey the dog.
Andrew enjoyed his Harley Davidson and the many trips he took with Sara, Chris, and friends on his Harley. Andrew and Sara loved to travel, with their trips to Mexico and all over the United States. One of his favourite trips was with Evan and Louie to San Francisco where they walked the Golden Gate Bridge, ate at the Swan Oyster Depot, and discovered the city as a family.
Andrew loved food, especially his love of cooking, BBQ and using his smoker. Most of all he loved sharing his creations with his family and friends. Andrew had a very long career as a construction superintendent with Bird Construction. He started his career apprenticing in carpentry under the guidance of his dad. Andrew was a very creative person, he taught himself to play the guitar, acoustic and electric. When Andrew decided he wanted to do something he did it and mastered it. His biggest accomplishment in his life by far was Evan and Louie. Andrew was so proud of his boys and everything they did.
Andrew was predeceased by his sister Yvonne Morris, his uncle Phil (Felix) Battersby, and his cousin Lindsay Battersby.
