Obituary of Linda Steinunn Jaques

November 12, 1936 – MacNutt, Saskatchewan

August 16, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Linda Jaques, beloved wife of the late Donald (Don) Robert Jaques, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, at the age of 87 years.

Linda was born in MacNutt, SK, on November 12, 1936. She attended grade school in MacNutt and Calder, SK, and Yorkton Collegiate Institute for Grades 9 to 11 before completing a secretarial training course in place of the traditional Grade 12 curriculum in 1955. Linda married Don on June 27, 1959, and together resided in Yorkton. They moved their young family to Calgary, AB, in 1968.

Linda’s hobbies and interests included sewing, baking, cooking, crafting, and camping with her family. Her most memorable vacation was when she travelled to Alaska with Don in their fifth-wheel trailer, via the Alaska Highway.

According to her children, Linda’s favourite saying was “Wait until your father gets home!”

She will be most remembered for her love for family and friends, her kindness to others, and her compassion, patience, and sense of humour.

Linda is survived by her son Tim Jaques, and her daughters, Sherry Fargey (Dean Fargey), Debbie Jaques (Chris McArthur), and Pam Young (Marshall Young). She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Thomas Fargey, Erin Fargey, Justin Young, Cody Young, Geneva McArthur, and Marina McArthur; and one great-grandchild Kida McLaughlin. Linda is also survived by her sister Carol MacLeod, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Linda was predeceased by her sisters, Grace and Irene; and brothers, John and Fred.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow on the Upper Level of the Funeral Home.
