Obituary of John Paul Lassaline

June 24, 1969 - Clinton, Ontario

August 28, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of John Lassaline, who fought hard against very aggressive cancer before passing away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the age of 55 years.

John was a truly amazing dad and left behind his beloved sons, Aidan (Kiesha) and Dylan. He also leaves behind his adoring mother and stepfather, Joyce and Ernie; brother Bill, and sister Barb (Gerry). He was a close and loving uncle to nephews, Tanner, Cole, and Gerry, who will miss him dearly.

John made co-parenting a breeze and was a dear friend to his former wife Brandy (Andy), and her family, Rod, Dixie, Autumn and Cale. He set an example of what we wish all blended families could have.

John was predeceased by his father Paul and is going to be sadly missed by his younger siblings, Sacha, Emily and Greg, along with their families.

In his younger years, John worked at Stage West and has stories and memories with friends who still feel a bond with him many years later. John will be deeply missed by his colleagues and “Second family” at Rolling Mix Concrete, where he had worked for the past 25 years. Thank you to all friends and extended family who came to visit or sent their memories and well wishes to him during these difficult weeks. You put smiles on his face and reminded him of how much he meant to people.

He was a dedicated volunteer, driving for the food bank and delivering food hampers to the homes of those in need each week. John was also a regular blood donor, always willing to give back to his community.

Our family thanks and truly appreciates the many doctors, nurses, health care aides, and palliative coordinators from Rockyview General Hospital and Tom Baker Cancer Centre, who went above and beyond to try and fight this cancer while also keeping our John comfortable and well cared for.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
