Obituary of Mac Brown

July 6, 1946 - Deep River, Ontario

August 20, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

Mac Brown, beloved husband of Linda Brown (nee Ross), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at the age of 78 years.

Mac was born in Deep River, ON, on July 6, 1946, and was a true “Ginger”. He was the eldest of four siblings, Keith, Bruce, and Regan.

Mac married Linda in 1967 in Montreal. They moved to Alberta in 1976 and put down roots in Calgary in 1986.

Mac accomplished much throughout his life and was particularly proud of The Wild Bird Store, his passion for the last years of his life. It has been passed on to Kris and Dave to carry on the legacy.

He enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and collecting and displaying shells from beaches he would travel to. Christmas mornings were always a special event with Mac around the tree.

Mac’s most memorable vacation was when he was able to spend time at Treasure Cay in the Bahamas, and his snowbird home in Florida while they were able to travel.

He will be most remembered for his larger-than-life personality, willingness to talk with anyone and everyone around him, his ability as a consummate salesman, and always being able to do this with fervour.

Along with his loving wife Linda, Mac is survived by his son Marc and his wife Barb (nee Lambert) of Calgary, AB, and by his daughter Kristin Brown-Schoepp and her husband Dave Schoepp of Calgary, AB; his grandchild Kayla Brown-Schoepp of Calgary, AB, and four step-grandchildren, Adam, Kevin, Aleece, and Stephanie of Alberta. Mac’s trusted companion, Piper, his Westie, was his constant companion on his many adventures.

Mac was predeceased by his father Doug, and mother Dee.
