Janet Hilary Wilson of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the age of 70 years.
Born on November 20, 1953, in Edmonton, AB, Janet lived a life rich in creativity. She moved to Calgary, AB in 1995, where she continued to explore her passions and build her family.
Janet was a proud graduate of Eastglen Composite High School in Edmonton and later honed her artistic talents through art classes at the Alberta College of Art and Design during her time in Calgary. Her artistry knew no bounds, with an impressive array of drawings, paintings, and photography that captured the beauty of the world as she saw it. Her passion for cooking was equally remarkable, reflected in her extensive, carefully curated cookbook collection.
Among her many adventures, Janet's most memorable was her journey to Morocco. There, she fully immersed herself in the vibrant culture and rich culinary traditions of the country, an experience that left a lasting impression and deepened her love for both art and food.
Janet will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She is survived by her son, Tyler Wilson, daughter-in-law Melanie Wilson, her beloved grandsons, Easton and Everett Wilson of Calgary, AB; her son Spencer Wilson, and his partner Jarina Yeung of Edmonton, AB. She is also survived by her three sisters and one brother-in-law, Glenys Yadlowski of Redwater, AB, Sandi Margiotta and Tito Margiotta of Sherwood Park, AB, and Sheila Kelba of Bentley, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Janet was predeceased by her mother Gwenyth Kelba, her father John Kelba, as well as her brother-in-law Lawrence Yadlowski.
A Celebration of Janet’s Life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared with family and friends once arrangements are finalized.
