Obituary of Wanita Cheyanne Olds
September 9, 1994 - Calgary, Alberta
August 31, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta
It is with profound sadness and heartache that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Wanita Cheyanne Olds AKA “Shaneyney” on Saturday, August 31, 2024, in Calgary, AB, at the age of 29 years.
A loving mother, sister, niece, auntie, great-auntie, and cousin. Cheyanne leaves behind her common-law partner Tristen Healy, their three surviving children, Kyson Olds, Kingston Olds, Azaliah Olds, and her angel baby T.J.; as well as her special nephew-son Pierce Jude Big Child-Olds, all of whom she loved and adored.
She also leaves behind her loving mother Myra Olds, brothers, Grant (Deedee) Black Horse, Elijah Olds, Wes Spotted Eagle, Darnell Olds, and Cyril Olds; sisters, Dedria (Grant) Good Eagle, Cecilia Raw Eater (Kelvyn), Caroline Olds, Alisha Melting Tallow (Lusty), and Lzella (Jodi) Mcmaster and their respective families; as well as her best friend Darla. She will also be missed by her fur baby Chocolate.
Cheyanne was born on September 9, 1994, at the Peter Lougheed Centre. During her younger years, she resided in Calgary, Siksika, and Tsuut’ina, finally making Calgary her home to raise her family. She attended both city and Nation schools, making many friends along the way. Cheyanne also completed her Cursillo in June 2019 with the theme song, “Here, I am Lord", along with her sister Cecilia. One of Cheyanne's greatest moments was when she became a mother; her children were her world. She was a unique, compassionate, loyal, caring, happy, outgoing individual with a great sense of humour. She had a heart of gold and would be there for friends and family anytime we needed her for anything and wouldn't turn a soul away from her home.
Cheyanne enjoyed a quiet but busy lifestyle, in the comfort of her home raising her precious babies and nephew Pierce. She was a movie fanatic, kept up with today's music, and was a huge Edmonton Oilers fan. She enjoyed her outings to her favourite spot, the Grey Eagle Bingo, and also looked forward to family gatherings. She loved her mom's cooking (we all do) and would joke around how she would get the last bannock or frybread. She loved to tease everyone; she was such a character. Cheyanne went by many nicknames, including: “Shaneyney, China Doll, Patron”, to name a few. She was also known for her many sayings that we will all hold forever.
Cheyanne is survived by her great-aunties, Rose Red Gun and Daisy Smith (Ferris); great-uncle Vincent (Vickie) Yellow Old Woman, aunties, Sandra One Spot, Fanny Olds (Len), Cheryl Big Plume (Joe), Pearline Dempsey, Lori Big Plume, Nena Red Gun, Sarah Three Suns, and Naomi Raw Eater; uncles, Curtis Olds (Denise), Woodrow Olds, Dino Olds, and Miles (Ethel) Old Woman; and her special cousin Margaret Olds. Cheyanne will be lovingly remembered by the Olds, Old Woman, Red Gun, Yellow Old Woman, Raw Eater, Jerry-Healy, Red Crows, and Medicine Traveller families. She will also be missed by her street family and friends, along with numerous cousins on both her parents’ sides.
Cheyanne was predeceased by her grandparents on her mom's side, Raymond Medicine Traveller and Caroline Olds; great-aunties, Doris Old Woman and Christina Red Gun; great-uncles, Cecil Old Woman and Floyd Old Woman At War; auntie Wanda Olds, uncle Ross Old Woman, and cousins, Jared Olds, Matthew Olds, and B.J One Spot. On her late father's side, she was predeceased by her father Jonathan (Johnny) Raw Eater, grandparent Dick (Cecilia) Raw Eater, brothers, Jayde Melting Tallow, Jackson Raw Eater, Liz and Adrian Big Oldman, Eugene Raw Eater, Ricky Raw Eater, Rhoda Raw Eater, Sandra and Lawrence Old Woman, Miram Raw Eater, and Robby Raw Eater.
