Bryan Ketcheson

Obituary of Bryan Huested Ketcheson

July 7, 1939 – Regina, Saskatchewan

September 5, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Bryan Huested Ketcheson, beloved husband of Deborah (née Bankowski) and proud father of Geoffrey Kent and Jody Lynn, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 5, 2024, with the love of his life by his side, after a long journey with Alzheimer's.

Bryan won the hearts of his wife, adventure mates, and kindred spirits. Bryan and Deb were married in 1994 and enjoyed travelling the world, experiencing beautiful countries, their cultures and customs, languages, food and wine. They played golf, indulged in Bryan’s homemade wine, and savoured dishes, especially Italian and Greek. Bryan was an avid golfer, downhill skier, and an armchair coach and fan of hockey, baseball, football, and any other sports. As a civil engineer, his career included roles in the oil and gas and building industries, where he was highly respected. One of Bryan’s notable achievements was his pivotal role in the annexation and development of the town of Midnapore into the City of Calgary in 1977.

He was the best husband anyone could ask for, always loving and supportive. His words of wisdom, old southern Saskatchewan sayings, unique dry sense of humour, and uncanny knack for finding and giving rude cards will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.

Besides his devoted wife, Bryan is survived by Geoff (Carrie), grandchildren Robin, Molly, and Samuel; Jody (Paul), grandsons Joshua and Jacob; his sister Sharon; and his “much younger sister” Susanne, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved family members.

The family would like to thank Bethany Riverview for their gentle care and for being an integral part of Bryan’s journey, as well as friends and family for their unwavering support and love.

A private celebration of a life well-lived will take place at a later date.

– Vincent Van Gogh
