Jessie Comben (née Pert), beloved wife of the late Robert “Bob” Comben, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the age of 97 years.
Born on March 25, 1927, in Jacksonville, NB, Jessie was the daughter of the late William Alexander and Margaret Pert. Jessie took a leap of faith and relocated to Calgary in 1951 and continued her career in retail, first at Birks Canada from 1951 to 1954, then at Sears Canada from 1954 to 1977.
She married Robert “Bob” in 1952, and they later had their only child Edward “Ted” in 1956.
Jessie was a member of the Toastmistress organization and a dedicated volunteer at Parkdale United Church. In her free time, Jessie enjoyed collecting and repairing antique dolls, painting, and tending to her beautiful garden. She also had a passion for palliative care and always had a kind word and a comforting touch for those in need.
Jessie will be dearly missed by her son Edward “Ted” Comben (Dianne), her sisters-in-law, Catherine Comben, Maxine Kulchyski and Linda Rogers; and all her nieces, nephews, and their spouses. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Bob Comben, her brother-in-law Herb Edward Comben, her parents, William Alexander and Margaret Pert; as well as her eight siblings and their spouses.
Jessie’s presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
“Life is eternal, and love is immortal, and death is only a horizon;
and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.”
