Obituary of Christopher Richard Cornish

April 21, 1971 – Calgary, Alberta

September 11, 2024 – Cardston, Alberta

Christopher “Chris” Cornish of Cardston, AB, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at the age of 53 years.

Chris was born in Calgary, AB, on April 21, 1971. He loved being a farm kid in Crossfield until 1986 when the family moved to Cardston.

Chris breezed through high school, and obtained his E.M.T. Certification, as well as carpentry training. He was a pilot, a talented musician, a truck driver, a handyman, a self-taught mechanic, and a farmer. He seemed to have a knack for combining all his talents into everything that he did.

Chris was a hard worker, paid attention to detail, had a kind heart, and a genuine spirit. He also had a wicked sense of humor that many who knew him enjoyed very much.

Chris was a big brother to a now heartbroken little sister, Shannon Brooker (nee Cornish; married to Jeff Brooker), an uncle to his niece Mackenzie Brooker, and his nephew Russell Brooker. He left behind many cousins, aunts, uncles, as well as several ‘honorary’ nieces and nephews who are related to Chris’s good friends and neighbors, Andrew and Line Nelson. He had more friends than we can list. He also left behind his beloved cat, TC (“The Cat”). We will all miss him dearly. He was predeceased by both of his parents, Terry and Glenda Cornish.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Tanner Centennial Seniors Centre (260 1 St W, Cardston, AB T0K 0K0) on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Attendees are warmly invited to share their cherished memories of Chris. Light refreshments and time for fellowship will also be provided.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Canadian Mental Health Association (1040 7 Ave SW #105, Calgary, AB T2P 3G9) Telephone: 403-297-1700, www.cmha.calgary.ab.ca/ways-to-give/donate/.
