Obituary of Bradford George Harrison
May 31, 1957 – Halifax, Nova Scotia
September 12, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Bradford “Brad” George Harrison of Calgary, AB, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at the age of 67 years.
Brad was born and raised in Terence Bay, NS, by his parents, Florence and George Harrison. Despite moving across the country, “the Bay” would always be home. We will cherish his many stories of growing up; spending time playing baseball (a game he loved), riding bikes with cousins, and camping with family and friends. He was looking forward to spending more time there in his retirement.
Brad earned a diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology from DeVry (Toronto) in 1984, which led to a seventeen-year career with Tellabs Communications in Mississauga, ON. He advanced through the company, with a promotion to Account Manager in 1992 taking the family to Alberta. In June of 2006, he joined the team at Musco Lighting as a Field Sales Representative for Western Canada. He was proud of the work they did and never missed an opportunity to point out the company’s lights on sports fields, hockey rinks, or storage yards. He retired from Musco in 2022.
Together, Brad and Gail enjoyed touring on the Goldwing. They enjoyed the beauty in Western Canada. The best trips were the Oregon coast with special friends, a great ride to Colorado, and their longest ride to Springfield, Illinois to visit long-time family friends. Brad “Bo” was well known on the baseball diamonds in and around Halifax. He and his brother Darren were a tag-team pitching duo that left many batters shaking their heads. Bo played on many teams from his high school days at Sir John A., the Prospect Road Schooners, The Dartmouth Dairy Queen Juniors, and All Wall Construction, to name a few.
Brad was enjoying his retirement; the garage was his workshop. He found joy in making small wooden cars, trucks, and the unique Zamboni. He was a good neighbour ready to help when needed. He had a great sense of humor, quick wit, and a knack for storytelling. Brad will be remembered by his family as a supportive father, teacher, and mentor.
Brad leaves behind his wife Gail, son Lucas, and daughter Megan (Don). He is also survived by his mother Florence, sisters, Dale (John), Dawn (Ken); and brother Darren (Charlotte). He will be missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father George.
A Celebration of Brad’s Life will be held at a later date at Terence Bay, NS.
