It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of Bill Savage on Friday, September 13, 2024, at the age of 76 years.
Bill was born in Princeton, BC, on December 6, 1947. His family moved to Calgary, AB, a year later. He spent most of his early years in Edmonton, then moved back to Calgary when he was ten years old and lived there the rest of his life. Bill married Cindy Savage (nee Newman) on February 27, 1970, and graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1971.
Bill accomplished much throughout his life and was very well respected as a Land Manager in the Oil & Gas industry for over 45 years. Bill had a passion for woodworking and always did an excellent job with any project. In his younger adult years, Bill was heavily involved with skiing in the Calgary area. He volunteered with the Race Development Program for Alberta Alpine and with the Nancy Green League at the Paskapoo Ski Club. Bill also volunteered as a timer at Nakiska for the men’s ski racing downhill 1988 Olympics in Calgary.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Cindy, his sister Carol (Murray) Todd of Kamloops, his brother Robert “Bob” (Gloria) Savage of Kelowna, and his brother David (Cheryl) Savage of Cranbrook. He is also survived by his daughter Sara (Kevin) Humeniuk of High River, and his son Will of Calgary. He was predeceased by daughter Kari, son Ryan, grandson Connor, as well as parents, Gordon and May Savage, Glen and Yvonne Newman, and sister Sylvia.
Bill and Cindy have eight grandchildren—Riley, Jonathan, Oskar, Eowyn, Brooklyn, Zac, Reese, and Quinn. Bill was exceptionally proud and loving to his grandchildren who all affectionately called him “Grumpy". They will miss him dearly.
