Obituary of Lorne Douglas Morley

November 7, 1951 – Toronto, Ontario

September 19, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Lorne Morley, beloved husband of Lynn Morley, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the age of 72 years.

Lorne was born in Toronto, ON, on November 7, 1951. He moved from Scarborough, ON, to Calgary, AB, in 1975.

He worked as a fixed-asset accountant at energy companies, including Dome Petroleum, Amoco Canada, Nexen, and others before starting Morley Consulting and Training Services with Lynn.

Lorne and Lynn were married in 1988 in Burlington, ON.

Lorne loved to hike in the mountains and bike the Calgary pathways. He enjoyed travelling the world, having been on every continent except Antarctica, with the pictures to prove it! Photography was one of his passions. His favourite destinations were mountainous countries. Lorne loved his trips to New Zealand and Switzerland. But the photo opportunities in the Galapagos were tremendous.

When he was unable to travel outside Calgary, he went on outings throughout the city to look at the parks, architecture, and wildlife. This was his best summer ever.

He will be most remembered for his incredible strength, determination and devotion. He was happy and proud to help where and when he could.

Besides his loving wife, Lynn, Lorne is mourned by his brothers-in-law, Dan and Dave Hayes of Calgary, AB; his sisters-in-law, Pattie and Dawn; his two accomplished nieces from Montreal, QC; his three charming nephews from Calgary, AB; and close friends.

Lorne was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Evelyn, and brother, Bob.

We would like to thank all the staff at Carewest Garrison Green for looking after him for the last fourteen years, the Access Calgary transportation services for making his journeys possible, and his friends who made his life interesting. Thank you to Brian, the good samaritan who helped give us the time with Lorne to say goodbye.

A Celebration of Lorne’s Life will be held at 48 Inverness Gate, Calgary, AB on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
