Obituary of Doug Gamble

May 20, 1958 - Regina, Saskatchewan

September 19, 2024 - High River, Alberta

Doug Gamble, beloved husband of Donna Gamble, of Okotoks, AB, peacefully left this world to reunite with his parents, Marge and Fred Gamble, sisters, Brenda Bohn and Shirley, brother-in-law Bob Armstrong, and dogs, Callie and Emma.

Doug was born in Regina, SK, on May 20, 1958. After a lengthy battle with cancer passed away at the High River Hospital on Thursday, September 19, 2024, surrounded by love from his earthly and Heavenly family, with his favourite playlist playing in the background.

Doug will be dearly missed by his wife Donna, daughter Sara, son Dustin (fiancée MaKenzie Lieffers), dog Kahlua, and cat Kota.

Doug was a shy, intelligent student who graduated from Regina Martin Collegiate. Doug loved hunting pheasants, migratory birds, deer, and bears with his parents, always treasuring family time. Most weekends he would be at the cabin near Fort Qu'Appelle with family, always wearing shorts and flip-flops.

In the summer of '76, Doug came to Alberta to stay with his aunt Lil and fell in love with the Sheep River and Highwood Valley. At this time, he hauled trees to planters in all parts of K-Country.

When Doug graduated in '77 he packed up and headed to Alberta to stay. He worked in forestry, building campgrounds with one of his best friends, Shane Richardson at Sandy McNabb and Bluerock in Kananaskis. From there Doug worked in Oil and Gas across Canada, the United States, and Libya. During his downtime, he would be a handyman.

His passions were family, friends, hunting, fishing, golfing, BBQing, camping, NCAA, NFL, CFL footballmost sports, and of course music like Jimmy Buffet.

He lived in Calgary, Canmore, Turner Valley, and Denver.

He will also be dearly missed by his niece Christine (Gary) Stupak and their children, Micayla and Mya, his nephew Craig (Sherri) Armstrong, brother-in-law Larry Bohn, niece Jennifer Bohn, great-nephew Brendan, and close friends, Shane and Marion Richardson, Andy Hoffman, Ken Colosmino, Paul and Gayle Stack in Denver.

A Potluck Gathering of family and friends will be held at Sandy McNabb Campground, Group Area A, on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. Space is limited.
