Obituary of Randall Douglas Snippa
October 3, 1955 – Fort St. John, British Columbia
September 20, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
On Friday, September 20, 2024, at the age of 68 years, Randy Snippa finished up his last few steps on this adventure called life after a tough battle with cancer. Randy lived that life as only he could, squeezing every drop out of every moment. His favorite journeys were on his beloved Harley Davidson (the wifey!) with the open road ahead of him. The open road gave him a freedom like no other. May he now ride on forever.
Randy is survived by his mother Dorothy Young, son and grandson, Christopher and Hayden Freeman of England; brothers, Rocky (Marie) and Shane (Cora); and his nephew Joshua (Shelby). Randy was predeceased by his father Roy in 2019.
Randy was born and raised in Fort St. John, BC, and discovered his zest for life at an early age. Moving abroad to work in the oil industry in 1978, Randy loved working on the rigs in many different countries. He worked hard and travelled the world over, bringing home many gifts to his family and sharing stories of his adventures.
Randy was a voracious reader from a young age, enjoying books from all walks of life. He loved getting a new book as a gift and could hide away and read it overnight! The many books he left behind are a testament of this love.
Those close to Randy will remember him as a confident and colourful cook, always presenting a beautiful meal with intense flavours one would not think of blending. He could take whatever was in his kitchen and prepare the most interesting food, using fresh herbs and ingredients that were always on hand.
Randy lived his life on his own terms in his own way. Not one to complain, he left this world with a dignity and grace that inspires us. His final chapter here was not an easy one, but he accepted his fate and never faltered from entertaining us with his wit and wisdom. He will be dearly missed.
Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Randy’s family here.
In living memory of Randall (Randy) Snippa, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6, Telephone: 403-276-2296.
