Monica Barron

Obituary of Monica Anne Barron

September 8, 1929 – Chamberland, Saskatchewan

September 20, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Monica Barron of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 20, 2024, at the age of 95 years.

Monica was born in Chamberland, SK, during the Dirty Thirties and came from a large family with eleven siblings. They endured much hardship, and Monica often spoke to us kids about these difficult times. She strove to make a better life for herself and her family.

Monica is survived by her three children, Brenda, Brian, and Karen; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one sibling, and one granddog (Burly). Monica also leaves behind her dear nieces who held a special place in her heart, Tanya, Melody, and Kathy, whom she loved very much and always enjoyed their visits.

Monica was a very proud and independent woman. Her favourite pastimes were driving us kids out of town for treats, going to bingo with her sister Blanche, shopping, dancing, and travelling!

We are all saddened by her passing and yet find peace that she is now in the arms of her heavenly family and no longer in pain.

As per Monica’s wishes, a Private Family Service will be held.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Calgary & Area Chapter, 150, 110 Quarry Park Blvd. S.E., Calgary, AB T2C 3G3 Telephone: (403) 250-7090, www.mssociety.ca.
