Obituary of Patricia Marjorie Macfarlane
January 28, 1942 – Winnipeg, Manitoba
September 19, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Patricia Marjorie Macfarlane (nee Kolt) of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the age of 82 years. God blessed her children, grandchildren, and sisters with the time to let her know how special she was to them.
She was born on January 28, 1942, in Winnipeg, MB. She was the beloved wife of the late Angus Macfarlane and dear life partner Thomas Racklin.
Patricia will be remembered for her kind heart and loving nature. She deeply cherished her three daughters, Marie Hart, Montanna Kelly Macfarlane, and Debbie Macfarlane, her only son-in-law David Hart who she loved deeply, and their families. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her six grandchildren, Tyler, Teri, Shaquille, Dante, Deanndra, and Dulé; and her five great-grandchildren, Damian, Kazziana, Olivia, Liam, and Riella. She also cherished moments with her nephews Jonathan, Jeremy, Jordan, and Kris; and her niece Jamie.
Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Joseph Kolt; as well as her two brothers, Walter 'Wally' Kolt and Ronald 'Ron' Janik; and her sister Lillian Kolt. She will be fondly remembered by her surviving sister Gloria Lapierre and Susan Kress, who she loved like a sister.
Patricia had a passion for playing bingo, baking, and going on shopping trips with her family and friends. She also loved knitting blankets for her loved ones, and crocheting, and in her younger years, she enjoyed ceramics and bowling. Patricia was the rock of her family; she was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren and took time out of her day to check in with them. Her mischievous giggle filled every room she entered, and her family will always remember her for her cheerful spirit and generous heart.
Summer vacations in Canada and the United States were memorable for Patricia, but her favourite trips were to Paris, St. Martins, and Colorado. She truly had a zest for life and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all those who have supported and helped them during this difficult time.
A Graveside Service will be held at Glen Eden Cemetery (4477 Main St, West Saint Paul, MB) on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Immediately following a Celebration of Life will be held at Marie’s home.
