May 20, 1949 – Olds, Alberta
September 28, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Marilynn Barton, born in Olds, AB, on May 20, 1949, passed away peacefully in her sleep in her home in Calgary, AB, on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the age of 75 years old. Having spent all her life in Alberta, it truly was her home, and she extended that home to all those who lovingly called her “Ma”, daughter, sister, mother, gramma, auntie, cousin, and best friend.
Always with her heart on her sleeve and a smile on her face, her biggest passion was to be surrounded by the people she loved, followed closely by her love of John Wayne and his westerns.
She will be most remembered for her creativity, her writing, her care for others, her lavish dress-up parties and flamboyant costume designs, gardening, being outdoors, traveling in her motorhome, snowmobiling, and living life’s many adventures.
Marilynn is survived by her son Christopher Pedersen, daughter Candace Cuncannon, and son-in-law Jason Hunter, all of Calgary, AB; her five grandchildren, Brayden Hunter, Noah Hunter, James Cuncannon, Rae-Lynn Cuncannon, and Paulina Pedersen; and many extended family members, blood and chosen.
Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Marilynn’s family here.
In living memory of Marilynn Barton, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Heritage, 1708 – 16th Avenue NW, Calgary, AB, T2M 0L7, Telephone: 403-299-0100.
