My condolences to all of Derek's family and friends. I met Derek as my father's boss at Northern Hardware when I was young and then he eventually became my boss as he gave me a chance at a position there. Although we parted ways may years ago, I have always liked Derek. May he always rest in peace.

Derek and I worked together for 20 years, he has been a great comrade and friend... His work ethic, and commitment to our office and staff, is legendary. The condolences we have received from people he worked with shows how well he was liked, and respected. I always enjoyed getting out for a round of golf and beers afterwards, or talking about hockey and the battle of Alberta, always in good fun. I will miss him greatly...

Derek was a friend in childhood that I treasured, and I can still see his bright smile, hear his fantastic laugh and recall fondly the fun we had as kids, teenagers and then adults as we ventured out into the world. I wish his spirit to travel well, and his light continue to shine bright. He was a great person, and my condolence goes out to his family.
