Condolences
I was saddened to hear of Bob's passing. He was briefly my boss at Amoco during the late 80's. I credit Bob with turning my career around. After a couple of years working for indifferent bosses I was floundering. Then I went to work for Bob who saw something in me. He encouraged me to use my technical skills for reservoir evaluation. The reservoir and production engineers liked my analyses and more importantly their management felt that I was worthy of being kept around. I managed to have a very successful career in a succession of assignments at Amoco and more at other companies. I wish that I had maintained contact with him and told him how important he was to me. Condolences to Bob's family. He was top tier.
My first memory of cousin Bob was in the early 70's. We all had taken a day trip to Elkwater in the Cypress Hills. Bob was fascinated with the strata and geology of the area. I remember climbing along an escarpment with my brother and Bob as he enthusiastically informed us of the history of the region. Every time I pass that location I remember Bob with his wire rim shades, blue turtleneck, and his joy for the science of earth and time. More recently we spoke briefly at a family event as I was on my own cancer journey. My condolences to the family.
