Obituary of John Kabatoff

April 12, 1941 – Thrums, British Columbia

October 2, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

John Kabatoff, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the age of 83 years.

John was born in Thrums, BC, on April 12, 1941.

He joined the Canadian Army and was stationed in Lord Strathcona's Horse in Edmonton, AB.  He had many roles during his time in the military, but primarily was a tank operator and a parachuter. He jumped out of a countless number of planes and enjoyed it every time.

He volunteered with the Swift Fox Conservation Society and took photos of the foxes while his son Robert did the yard work and fed the foxes.

In his later years, John enjoyed playing poker, especially Texas hold ‘em, at the Cash Casino in Calgary, AB.

He will be most remembered for his love for his family and the kind way he took care of them.

John is survived by his son Robert and daughter Jocelyn. He is also survived by brother, Ron (Barb); his sister Marilyn; his good friend Heather; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

John was predeceased by his wife Anne in 2006 and his sister Judy.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
