Reception (following celebration of life)
Condolences
I always looked up to Rhoda during my time at the womens centre of Calgary for her compassion, wisdom, and readiness to share thoughtful discussion and laugh off a tough situation. She has changed the lives of so many women around the world, mine included. My heart, gratitude and healing go out to Rhoda’s family.
Rhoda was a pillar in the direction of my start in social work. Conversations with Rhoda inspired me to speak out. From when I first met Rhoda I admired her leadership and wealth of thoughtful and intentional work. This will stay with me. Rhodas generosity to share baby items and clothes for my son is now a physical reminder of her beautiful heart. Rhoda brought love, light, strength and change to this world, and I am so grateful to have met her. <3 ❤️
A crystal clear memory of Rhoda comes to me from Kendra and Sheona’s wedding. Rhoda was a radiantly beautiful bridesmaid, enthusiastic and happy for everything about the wedding. She baked and decorated the beautiful wedding cake with red ribbons between the layers. Each unmarried woman and girl held one end of a ribbon knowing there would be a golden ring at the end of only one of the ribbons. The ring would show who would be the next bride. Rhoda gave the signal to pull the ribbons and was delighted when her sister, Ruthi, pulled out the golden ring!
Oh my, so many memories. But the one that stands out for me -listening & watching Rhoda play her "flute"- as she played, she took pieces off of it until she had only the mouth piece.
You are loved much Rhoda , have left a big hole in our hearts. Auntie Betty
I am so thankful and grateful for the opportunity to share some important moments of my life with Rhoda. She truly made an impact on me, and I will always be proud to share stories about her. Thank you, Rhoda, for the part you played in life. May you find all the love, happiness, and peace you deserve, and then some. Safe journeys, beautiful soul.
