Obituary of May Frances Crane

May Crane of Tsuut’ina, AB, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024, at the age of 75 years.
May was the eldest of eight children in her family. Her father was a veteran of WWII. May celebrated 35 years of sobriety this year and with her sobriety she received training at the Nechi Institute, which enhanced her as a counsellor and further enhanced the recovery program on Tsuut’ina. May was a survivor of the Sixties Scoop. May will be remembered for her kindness and sense of humour and enjoyed hosting company in her home and family gatherings. May thoroughly enjoyed every holiday, especially Halloween, a time when she would always dress in a costume.
May is survived by her mother Myrtle Calahaisn, her daughter Vanessa Crane, her son Peter (Marianne) Crane, her grandchildren, Cassandra, Braiden, Liana, Paul, Gloria, Tessa, James, and Rhett; great-grandson Brennan, brothers and sisters, Walter Calahaisn, Frieda Dodginghorse, Yvonne Calahaisn, and Earla Calahaisn; her friends in recovery Alex Crowchild, Frances Jensen, and Audrey Pipestem; as well as numerous cousins and adopted children and grandchildren.
May was predeceased by her father Walter Calahaisn Sr., her brothers and sisters, Stewart, Sharon, Joanne, and Johnny, and her daughter, Rose Mullin.
The family would like to thank the Tsuut’ina Nation Homecare Team, Tsuut’ina Nation Elders Program, the Tsuut’ina Nation Mental Health Program, and the staff and friends at the Millrise Senior’s Village.
Wake Services will be held at May’s residence (155 Cow Camp Road Tsuut’ina, AB) on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
Funeral Service will be held at Bullhead Community Hall (Bullhead Rd, Tsuut’ina, AB) on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Tsuut’ina Cemetery (Tsuut’ina, AB). Traditional Feast will be held at Bullhead Community Hall (Bullhead Rd, Tsuut’ina, AB) immediately following the graveside.
