Harvey Davids

Obituary of Harvey Alan Davids

August 1, 1944 – October 27, 2024

Harvey Alan Davids of Calgary, AB, passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 80 years of age. Harvey was raised in Lethbridge, and went to University in Edmonton and London, Ontario, before returning to Calgary where he started his career.

Harvey was a pioneer of Olympic Pin trading, beginning in 1988 at the Calgary Olympics. He embodied the Olympic spirit, travelling to seventeen Olympic Games, some with his wife and brother. Harvey was the owner of Collector's Corner, a renowned memorabilia and antique store in Calgary. He was a sharp collector and enjoyed working with his customers on buying and selling items. His involvement in these activities continued until his passing.

His true passion was his beloved family. Predeceased by his wife and son, he enjoyed family time with his daughter Danielle and her family. His greatest joy was taking his grandchildren to their various sporting events and cheering them on. Friday night Happy Hours were special family times. He was a proud Zaida.

Harvey loved socializing and being with friends - old and new. To know him was to be his friend. His kindness, generosity, and caring spirit made everyone welcome in his presence and in his home.

Left to mourn Harvey is his daughter Danielle (Michael) McGhan, grandchildren, Sophia, Erick, and Alivia; brothers, Ken (Sheila) and Barry (Karen); sister Bev (Harvey) Silverstone, sisters-in-law, Ann Marie and Agnes Ross; brothers-in-law, Peter (Sheila), Allan (Indra), and Ian (Rhonda) Ross, Ernie Stokes; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins, all who loved Harvey dearly and will miss him. Harvey was predeceased by his wife Margaret-Rose, his son Ryan, and sister-in-law Terry Stokes.
