Obituary of Thelma Eveline Kerr

September 25, 1930 Montreal, Quebec

October 29, 2024 Calgary, Alberta

Thelma Kerr (nee Laws) of Kitchener, ON, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the age of 94 years.

Thelma was born in Montreal, QC, on September 25, 1930, daughter of Albert and Patience Laws and sister to one brother, Arthur. She met and married Alexander Joseph Kerr on the 24th of September 1954, and began life together in Montreal eventually settling in Kitchener in the early 1960s.

Thelma accomplished much throughout her long life. She was a busy homemaker yet always found time to follow her two passions: gardening and bridge. She also enjoyed needlework, swimming, golf, fine dining, theatre, music, history, and reading. She particularly enjoyed reading Canadian literature, but her favourite novel was Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Her one weakness in life was chocolate!

Thelma’s zest for life was indisputable and she remained fiercely independent living in her own home until 2024. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Leslie and Randy Jordan, residents of Millarville, AB, who will miss her deeply.

Thelma was predeceased by her brother Arthur and her husband Alexander.
