Obituary of Jean Mudry
April 25, 1940 – Calgary, Alberta
November 5, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeanette Marie Mudry (nee Parks) on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. She passed away peacefully at Midnapore AgeCare extended care facility in Calgary. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will be forever remembered by her family and friends.
Jean will be deeply missed by her daughter LeaAnne (Scott) of Calgary, her son Darryl (Izabela), and her beloved grandchildren, Daniel and Catelina of White Rock, BC. She is also survived by her brother Gordon Parks (Sue), sister Linda Bandy, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jean held a special place in her heart for LeaAnne's best friends, Susan and Ron Wall of St. Louis, Missouri, where she was an "adoptive grandma" to their son Austin. She was predeceased by her husband, John, in January 2022, as well as by her parents, Ralph and Hilda Parks.
Born and raised in Calgary, Jean cherished her roots in the city but also had many fond memories at the farm in Esther, AB. Jean was a devoted mother and wife, always supporting her children in their endeavours, from attending LeaAnne’s Brownie and Girl Guide activities—where she became affectionately known as "Tawny Owl" on camping trips—to cheering at Darryl's baseball and hockey games. Her dedication to her family extended beyond their accomplishments, as she also found joy in creative pursuits, such as cake decorating, macrame, and crocheting.
Jean’s professional life was marked by her long-standing career at Foothills Hospital, where she served as a Booking Clerk in Admitting for over 30 years. She previously worked at Safeway and Palm Dairies, contributing her diligent work ethic and warmth to each role.
Alongside her husband, John, Jean enjoyed breeding and raising German Shepherds, some of whom were selected for K9 training with the RCMP. Their shared love for animals and their passion for the breed were evident in the devotion they poured into this endeavour.
A Celebration of Jean’s Life will be announced at a later date. Jean’s legacy of kindness, love, and service will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be remembered with love and gratitude for the joy she brought to all.
