Melanie attended Morley Day School. She worked at the Stoney Nakoda Lodge, Stoney Nakoda daycare, and the Goodstoney Rodeo Centre. In her younger days, she was active in school and a fast runner in Physical Education. Barely any others could catch up to her. She enjoyed her hand quilting and made blankets.
