Obituary of Guy Elzear Tremblay
January 27, 1956 – Ottawa, Ontario
November 12, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Guy Elzear Tremblay was received into the hands of our Lord on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, in Calgary, Alberta. He is predeceased by his father, Robert Tremblay, and is survived by his mother, Gisele (née Philbert). He will be forever cherished in the hearts of his wife Carmen, his three children Elyse, Robert, and Mark; his sisters Carole (Norman Tocher) and Lise Tremblay; and his brother Jean (Liz Ludwig); his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, his many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Born in Ottawa, Guy had been a resident of Calgary since 1966. He loved French-Canadian culture and enjoyed his years at the College St-Jean (University of Alberta) graduating with a Bachelor of Sciences in Chemistry and subsequently studying Electrical Engineering at the University of Calgary. He pursued a career in engineering and was a dedicated hardworking professional. He shared his love of science with his children, as well as his insatiable desire to learn and thirst for knowledge through a love of reading. He had many other interests including his love of writing, his artwork, and woodworking.
Guy met his wife Carmen through church activities, sharing their first dance at Sacred Heart Church in Calgary. He was his wife’s steady comforting rock and companion, she was the love of his life, his “chief”, an inseparable team in everything they did for their family, supporting each other unfailingly through good times and hardships, their love growing only stronger with time. He never forgot birthdays or anniversaries and took great pride in showering her with gifts, especially roses.
Guy was exceedingly proud of his family and his love was shown through every action, subtle, simple, and kind. His caring was extended to neighbours and friends, always greeting them with a cheerful and friendly smile, always ready to help. He was a humble man, and although at times quiet, his presence and impact on those around him were huge. He was hardworking, devoted, steadfast, and strong, someone you could always rely on, putting others' needs above his own. He leaves his family with a legacy and a compass on how to live a good life, an example of love and caring for all around him.
