Keily O'Yeung

Obituary of Keily Woon Kee O'Yeung

July 9, 1938 – Zhongshan, Guangdong, China

November 18, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Keily O’Yeung, beloved husband of Winnie O’Yeung, and father of William and Mei Lei, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 18, 2024, at the age of 86 years.

Keily might have brought his family to Calgary, AB, for a better life for his children, but he also enjoyed a blessed and wonderful life. He had a great time working at the Alberta Liquor Control Board where his late shifts included shuffleboard, card games, late evening chats, and naps. He met a great friend in Leto and became a godfather to his youngest son Kent. He also worked at the University of Calgary, where he connected with professors and students. He always looked forward to the annual retiree and long service party. Until early this year, Keily went to work out at the university’s gym every morning where he met many staff and students who helped him with the exercise equipment. At the university, he also made a great friend, Fred.

In his free time, he loved fishing, gardening, playing cards, slots, chess, and mahjong. When Keily retired, he did things he enjoyed. He loved meeting people and was active in the community, volunteering as the vice-principal of the Chinese Language School, a director of the Calgary Chinese Elderly Association, a board member of the Chinese Cultural and Entertainment Association, and many other organizations. He also loved travelling and spent time exploring the world.

Besides his wife and children, Keily is survived by his daughter-in-law Kathleen, son-in-law Neville, grandchildren Brennan, Stephanie, and Alexander; brother Wah Au Yeung, in-laws Shui Yee Wan, So Ching Au Yan, Raymond Siu, and Lily Siu; as well as many relatives and friends.

Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Keily’s family here.
