November 17, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Paul Barrie Elliott of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the age of 89 years.
He was predeceased by his wife Rosita Elliott, who passed away in September 2020; and his brother John (Winifred) Elliott of New Zealand who passed away in November 2005. He is survived by his two sons, Andrew Elliott of Calgary, AB, and Mark (Tracy) Elliott of Red Deer, AB; daughter Susan (Paul) Ladouceur of Calgary, AB, two grandchildren, Holly (Cam) McDonald of Calgary, AB; and Tanner Elliott of Leduc, AB. He is also survived by his brother Roy (Elsie) Elliott of Arnold, Nottingham, England, niece Debbie (Wayne) Jones of Nottingham, England, and nephew Leslie (Deng) Elliott of Thailand.
Paul was the sole proprietor of Elliott Engineering Limited from the mid-1980s until he was no longer able to work due to health complications. He was an active member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church for many years. During the late '60s, '70s, and '80s he was joined by John Young and Hugh Reid of St. Andrews in running the Boys' Brigade for the young male youth of the church. He also loved to sing, so he joined the senior choir and other choirs outside the church. He, along with his wife, was also active with the Heritage Seniors participating in many activities, events, and celebrations through the years.
Paul enjoyed many years camping with his wife in Kananaskis Country and at Tunnel Mountain. Their furry friends always accompanied them – Winchester during the 1980s and then Freeway. When they weren’t camping, they were travelling in the US or overseas to Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and further.
For the last 5-plus years, Paul resided at Skyview Care Home from June to October 2018, Millrise Care Home from October 2018 to March 2021, and then in the Somerset wing of AgeCare Midnapore until his passing. The family would like to thank all the staff for doing their best to make their dad feel as comfortable as possible during that time.
