Obituary of Adam Bruce Kenny
November 24, 1987 – Vancouver, British Columbia
November 18, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Adam Bruce Kenny, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, on Monday, November 18, 2024, at the age of 36 years. Adam’s life was filled with love, laughter, and countless memories that will be cherished forever by those who knew him.
Adam was born in Vancouver, BC, and joined a lively family that included twin brothers, Alex and Stephen, and parents, Bruce and Brenda. Family roots run deep in the Rideau area of Ontario. While Adam’s life began in Vancouver, followed by a lifelong home in Calgary, AB, his life included many happy times and much love at the family farms and the cottage with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Adam graduated from the University of Lethbridge in Commerce and worked several different jobs along the way. He was meticulous and thorough and took great pride in whatever he put his mind to.
Travelling and being outdoors was very special to him. He hiked the West Coast Trail twice and loved the challenge and immersion in nature. It was a joy to travel with him and to see the world through his eyes, with keen questions and observations.
As an uncle, Adam shared a unique bond with his nieces and nephew. His playful spirit and thoughtfulness will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.
Adam faced challenges in life that not all could see, battling mental illness for an extensive time, all while keeping a brave face. Despite his struggles, he often placed the needs of others above his own, leaving an enduring legacy of love and kindness.
We hope to honour Adam’s memory by breaking the silence surrounding mental health struggles and encouraging others to seek help and support. His life reminds us of the importance of compassion and connection, even in moments of darkness.
Adam is survived by his parents, Bruce and Brenda Kenny; his siblings and their spouses, Stephen and Jessica, Alex and KaraLee; and his cherished nephew and nieces, Oliver, Kiora, and Denali. Adam is also survived by numerous family members and friends who cared for him deeply.
Though Adam is no longer with us, he lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. May he have now found the peace he sought, and may we honour his memory by extending kindness and understanding to ourselves and others.
Rest gently, Adam. You are loved, always.
