April 4, 1931 – Macklin, Saskatchewan
November 20, 2024 – Cochrane, Alberta
Margaret Lamont of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the age of 93 years.
Margaret was born in Macklin, SK, on April 4, 1931. She moved to Calgary, AB, in 1949 where she met her husband, Thomas Ronald ‘Ronnie’ Lamont and they were married in 1951. She worked in retail sales, with extended employment at Hudson’s Bay and Simpson-Sears.
After Ronnie’s passing in 1983, she pursued her desired adventure and stretched her entrepreneurial skills by moving to North Vancouver, BC, to open a coffee shop. In the late 1980s, Margaret moved back to Calgary, AB, to be closer to her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She shared in many family gatherings, always had a smile on her face, and would do anything for her family. She loved to dance and pursued that with her usual vigour and determination.
Margaret is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Line, her grandson, Bailey, her two sisters, Eleanor Rinehart and Karen Huolt, her sister-in-law, Judy Weinkauf, and brother-in-law, Roger Jackman. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband Ronnie, parents Michael and Katherine Weinkauf, brother Bert Weinkauf, and her sisters Thelma Young, Leila Jackman, and Janet Lundvall.
Margaret’s spirit will live on, and she will be sadly missed.
