Obituary of Steven Michael Warland
January 8, 1965 – Vancouver, British Columbia
November 19, 2024 – Calgary Alberta
Steven “Steve” Warland, beloved husband of Marlene Fontaine of Calgary, AB passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the age of 59 years.
Steve was born in Vancouver, BC on January 8, 1965. While he lived across BC, his most treasured memories and stories were from his time in the Shuswap with close friends Ron and Darrell. Steve was an auto body painter by trade, fulfilling the majority of his career in Alberta, where he met Mike another long-time friend.
Steve accomplished much throughout his life and was particularly proud of the restoration of his 1968 Camaro and his flowing mullet. Steve had a passion for muscle cars and hot rods attending many car shows and collecting diecast cars.
His most memorable vacations were when he took his family back to the Shuswap, to enjoy hours of fun in the sun and boat rides. Steve would’ve liked to express his gratitude to his good friend Jason for the adventures and boat storage. Friends and family will always cherish the memories of hours spent in his garage shooting darts.
Steve’s favourite music was good old rock and roll particularly Ted Nugent and Motley Crue. He will be most remembered for his extreme patience, straightforward advice and kind loving heart toward people and cats.
Besides his loving wife of 28 years, Steve is survived by his son Justin and daughter Niki, son-in-law Jason along with granddaughters Jayda, Mya and Ava. He is also survived by parents Rick and Glenda, sisters Janet, and Dorothy, and brother Rick Jr. as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Steve’s Life will be held at Abbeydale Community Association (821 Abbeydale Dr. NE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 1:00 p.m.
