Obituary of Walentyna Pluskwyk
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Walentyna Pluskwyk, on November 22, 2024, in Calgary, AB, at the age of 97.
Walentyna was born in Kursk, Ukraine. She was one of many young people displaced to Germany during World War II, where she met her future husband Michael. They married in Munich in 1946. In 1949, they courageously emigrated to Nova Scotia, Canada, where they happily lived for 55 years, raising their family. She spent her final years in Calgary. Walentyna was a wonderful storyteller, an avid reader, and loved playing cards around the kitchen table. She found great joy in cooking and baking for family and friends. She will be remembered as a devoted wife and loving mother whose kindness touched everyone she met.
Walentyna was predeceased by her husband Michael and daughter Adele.
She leaves behind her children, Luba (Robert), Irene, Lillianne, Michael (Dominique), Roxanne (Dennis); grandchildren, Simon, Robert (Rita), Kathleen (Shawn), Megan (Brandon), Cayla, Christian; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Bennett, Caden; bonus great-grandchildren by marriage, Jacob, Joshua, Daniel, Grace; and great-great-grandchild Elias.
Funeral services will not be held at this time. As per her wishes, she will be laid to rest in Nova Scotia with Michael and Adele.
