Obituary of Daisy Elizabeth Svennesen

November 23, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Daisy Elizabeth “Betty” Svennesen (née McLean), beloved wife of Jep Kjeldsen Svennesen, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the age of 79 years.
Betty was born in Shoal Lake, MB, on September 21, 1945. She moved to Edmonton, AB, in 1978 and to Calgary, AB, in 1980.
She graduated from high school and spent some years travelling and working in Waterton National Park as a tour guide. She then worked in a chiropractic office, managed a health food store in Edmonton, AB, and eventually concluded her career with Cougar Contractors Ltd. in Calgary, AB. Betty married Jep in 1983.
Betty enjoyed having fun with her friends, loved her children and her grandchildren, had a passion for arts and crafts, and felt at peace gazing at the ocean.
She also enjoyed cruises with her friends, spending time at Jan and Craig’s property near Waterton, and travelling with Jill and Steve’s family to Mexico and the East Coast of Canada.
She will be most remembered for her laughter and huge heart.
Betty is survived by her two daughters and two sons-in-law, Jill (Stephen) Skarstol and Jan (Craig) Rempel of Calgary, AB; five grandchildren, Calvin Rempel, Benjamin and Shelby Gordon, and Jayden and Dean Skarstol, residing in British Columbia and Alberta. She is also survived by her older brother Don (Marge) McLean residing in Winnipeg, MB, along with numerous dear relatives and friends.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Jep Svennesen, her parents, Ted and Beatrice McLean, and her brothers, Bob and David McLean.
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Friday, November 29, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Svennesen’s service streamed live (see link below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.
