It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rocco Joseph Raimondi, much-loved husband of Maria Raimondi (nee Cusano), of Calgary, AB, on Monday, November 25, 2024, at the age of 73 years. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his beloved family.
Rocco was born in Sartano, in the province of Cosenza, Italy, on August 24, 1951, to Innocenza and Domenico. He was the eldest son in the family of six children. At the age of three, Rocco immigrated to Canada with his mother, father, sister Emilia, and brother Tony in 1954.
Rocco’s strong work ethic began at a young age, working at the Palliser Hotel, the Calgary Tower, and for the City of Calgary. His dedication and commitment led him to pursue further education at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, where he earned his Registered Engineering Technologist designation.

In 1987, Rocco achieved his Professional Engineer designation in mechanical engineering. Throughout his successful career, he became a respected businessman and a passionate advocate for design. His contributions were integral to the development of numerous schools, hospitals, and landmark structures throughout Alberta and neighbouring provinces. The legacy of his work continues to be seen in many important buildings that serve communities across the region.
Rocco was a man of many passions, each of which he pursued with enthusiasm and joy. His love for the outdoors was evident in his lifelong dedication to fishing and hunting. Rocco was also an avid golfer, enjoying the camaraderie of friends and fellow enthusiasts on the course.
Traveling was another great passion of Rocco's. He explored far and wide, savoring new cultures, cuisines, and experiences. Each journey deepened his appreciation for the world’s beauty and diversity, and he formed lasting memories wherever he went.
Rocco touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Rocco is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Maria, two children, Concetta (Guido) and Francesco (Angelina); and four grandchildren, Alessandra, Massimiliano, Vincent, and Serafina.
