Obituary of Laverne Chappell

Laverne Chappell, beloved wife of Darryl Schroeder, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024, at the age of 66 years.
Laverne was born in Summerside, PE, on June 10, 1958. She graduated from Holland College in Summerside, PE, with a degree in Secretarial Arts and Administration and moved to Calgary, AB, in 1977. Laverne married Darryl Schroeder in 1993.
Laverne accomplished much throughout her life and was particularly proud of mapping the historical genealogy of the Chappell family of Prince Edward Island and was the author of The Chappell Diaries.
A lover of the outdoors in any season, she enjoyed skiing, hiking, and mountain biking. Her most memorable vacation was when she drove across Canada and back in the 90s with her husband Darryl. Laverne enjoyed attending flea markets and antique stores. She loved restoring and refinishing older items; her motto was “Buy it and modify it.”
Besides her loving husband, Laverne is survived by her son James Lord (Amanda), and two grandchildren, Mikayla and Parker. Laverne is also survived by her brother, Brian Chappell, nephew Garrett Chappell, and numerous cousins. Laverne was predeceased by her parents, Murial Joyce Bramer and Frederick James Chappell.
