Obituary of Virginia Betsy Yellow Old Woman

With heavy hearts the family of Virginia Yellow Old Woman announces her sudden passing on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the age of 26 years.

Virginia is survived by her partner, Steven Emery Red Gun; her mother, Dannette Red Crow; her siblings, Kyle Red Crow, Kyla Red Crow (Joseph Contois), Thea Red Crow, and Theoren Red Crow; her  grandmother on her mother’s side, Vivian Yellow Old Woman; her grandfather on her father’s side, Gary Red Crow; her adopted parents, Adrianna Yellow Old Woman and Stewart Many Bears; her godparents, Myrna and Morris Running Rabbit; her aunties, Jennie Red Crow, Valerie Red Crow, and DeeDee Maguire; her great-uncles, Alan (Jennifer) Medicine Traveller, Gordon Red Crow, and Reynold Medicine Traveller; and her great-aunties, Rita Many Guns, Brenda Red Crow, Letty Red Crow, and Sharon Sitting Eagle. She will also be remembered by a wide circle of family and friends who hold her memory with love and gratitude.

She was predeceased by her father, Rambert Red Crow; her grandmother Harvina Red Crow, her uncles Kelly Red Crow, Jason Red Crow, and Tuffy Red Crow.

Virginia was a beacon of light to all who knew her. She faced challenges with grace, always putting others before herself, and her love for her family was evident in everything she did. Her laughter, her wisdom, and her heart will be deeply missed, but they will continue to inspire and guide us, even in her absence.

Wake Services will be held at the Many Bears residence in Blackfoot Crossing, Siksika Nation, AB, (Map 8 House 29) on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. for family and 6:00 p.m. for the public.

Funeral Services will be held at St. John the Divine Anglican Church, on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., services to be officiated by Larry Water Chief.  Graveside Service to follow at Paul Little Walker Cemetery.
