Obituary of Jerry Lynn Webb
April 23, 1946 – Post, Texas
November 26, 2024 – Cochrane, Alberta
Jerry Webb, beloved husband of Elaine Frances (nee Hoskin), of Cochrane, AB, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at the age of 78 years.
Jerry was born in Post, Texas, USA on April 23, 1946. As a young man, he joined the US Army. His service took him all over the world, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. While stationed in Stuttgart, Germany, Jerry met Elaine, who was backpacking through Europe.
Jerry and Elaine were married on May 23, 1970, in Richmond, BC. Jerry received an honourable discharge from the military. The family moved to Canada, finally settling in Cochrane in 1984.
Jerry worked in the aviation industry as a helicopter pilot and engineer for over four decades. During his career, he had many adventures, from flying to the Arctic Circle and being bitten by a polar bear cub to flying in support of the United Nations missions to Somalia and Yemen.
Jerry loved playing golf with Jerry, Barry, and Joe whenever the opportunity arose.
One of Jerry’s favourite things to quote was the lyrics of the song “It’s Hard to Be Humble”, with which he routinely serenaded his family.
Jerry is survived by his sons, Terry and his fiancée Margie, and Bradley, his wife Katy, and their daughter Annabelle, nieces, Debbie and her husband James, and their sons Duncan and Logan, Lori and her children Luc and Jessica, and Trish and her son Christopher.
Jerry was predeceased by his wife Elaine, parents Marie and Paul, sisters, Glenda and Barbara, and brothers, Ken and Richard.
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Cochrane, 369 Railway Street, Cochrane, AB), on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
Jerry and his family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff and volunteers at Cambridge Manor and Chinook Hospice.
