Obituary of Veronika Gaspar

June 27, 1931 – Slanske Nove Mesto, Slovakia

November 28, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Veronika Gaspar (nee Macosko), beloved wife of Milan Gaspar, of Calgary, AB, on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at the age of 93 years, at the Providence Care Centre in Calgary after battling dementia.

Veronika was born in Slovakia and immigrated with her husband and children to Canada in 1969, settling in Fernie, BC.  Later, in 1973 they moved to Lethbridge, AB, and resided there until 1994 when they moved to Calgary. Veronika was a European-trained seamstress and tailor who was proud of her profession and ability to sew anything.

Veronika is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Erika Serek, son, Igor Gaspar (Alica), and grandchildren Jenn Serek and Christina Gaspar. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Milan Gaspar, her son-in-law, Maj David Serek, her brother, John Macosko, and her sisters, Anna Dolcinkova and Mariska Vilcekova.

A Celebration of Veronika’s life will be held in early January 2025.
