Violet hosted a Wednesday Bible study in her home for many years.
Violet was born when her parents had a job working on a farm that became the Salmon Arm convention grounds. The family later moved to a farm across from the current convention ground property and later to the town of Salmon Arm. Violet attended school at the Mount Ida school in the Salmon Arm Valley and graduated from high school in 1950 in the town of Salmon Arm. She moved to Kelowna to help her older sister Doris with her first child and later returned and worked at the telephone exchange office in Salmon Arm. Violet eventually moved back to Kelowna, completing a business college course, and worked as a staff member at Kelowna Sawmills (KSM).
In 1955, Violet moved to Calgary, AB, where she worked for a finance company. She met her husband, Wally, in Calgary, and they were married in September 1956. They purchased a new home in 1961, and Violet remained in that home until her final days.
