Obituary of Bryn Owen Davies

Bryn Davies passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024, at the age of 76 years after a long struggle with cancer.

Bryn Owen Davies was born January 18, 1948, in Altringham, Manchester, UK, to Richard and Lena Davies. Bryn immigrated to Canada in 1969 at the young age of 21. After graduating from SAIT in 1974 with a diploma in Air Conditioning Engineering Technology, he secured employment at an engineering company for ten years, kickstarting a 31-year career as an instructor for SAIT.

Bryn married Janet Davies (nee Gibson) in 1977. The two were each other's lifelong companions and friends for 50 years. Janet and Bryn went on to have three children, Barry (Catriona), Ian (Monique) and Neil; as well as grandchildren Iona, Owen, Georgina and step-grandchildren Zoe and Alaya.

In 2013 Bryn retired and spent his summers navigating ridges, scrambling and hiking. In the winter, he would gracefully show off his passion for skiing by spending hours on the slopes. Because Bryn was a man of many talents, when he was not hiking or skiing you could always find him repairing or renovating one of his son’s homes.

Although Bryn is gone, he will live on in his sons and all the people who came to know him.

He is survived by his sons, Barry (Catriona), Ian (Monique), and Neil; his grandchildren, Iona and Owen; step-grandchildren, Zoe and Alaya; sister Sylvia, brother Donald (Freda), nieces Anna and Terry Ann; nephew Mark, as well as many loved and cherished extended family and friends.

Bryn was predeceased by his mother Lena, his father Richard, and his granddaughter Georgina.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
