Obituary of Dawn Arlene Bollen

November 28, 1946 – Winnipeg, Manitoba

November 30, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Dawn “little grandma” Arlene Bollen on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the age of 78 years old.

Dawn was born in Winnipeg, MB, on November 28, 1946, and later moved to Calgary, AB.

In Dawn’s early years, she worked at the post office and later finished her career working as a dry cleaner, to which she would then retire.

She has many fond memories such as a vacation she took with family to Victoria, BC, walking along the coastline in search of baby crabs, as well as many Christmases spent surrounded by family.

Dawn accomplished various things throughout her life being a single parent of two, in which she was incredibly proud of the family that surrounded her with full hearts, including the furry four-legged family members, Whisky, Baxter, and Max, who she loved greatly.

You could find “little grandma” enjoying the simpler things, such as playing her favourite game of Hearts and Bingo, as most grandparents would. She very much cherished a good classic film such as ‘An American Werewolf in London,’ and many other classic slasher films like John Carpenter’s Halloween, which became a family favourite amongst her children and grandchildren; to sit down and watch some good ole’ T.V. This, of course, could not go without a delicious meal and a cold Diet Coke.

Dawn leaves to cherish in her memory her two beloved sons, Terry Bollen (Cheryl) and Jason Fox (Anna); and her loving grandchildren, Joshua Bollen, Dakota Bollen, Simarah Fox, and Riely Fox.

“Those we love do not go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved, still missed, and very dear.”

Dawn’s life will be celebrated by family in a private ceremony.
