It’s with an aching heart that I am remembering my brother-in-law Ray, and thinking of my sister Mavis; and all of their family, but also with some joy as Ray is finding his richly deserved peace. His devotion to his family, and both the smaller and larger community that he had served was a tribute to the kind; loving; and humorous approach he took in life. I will always remember his support, advice and guidance as I struggled to grow into a man. His impact on me was enormous. He was a man that good men should aspire to be. Rest in Peace with the Lord, Ray.
My deepest condolences to Mavis and the family on this sad news. I always looked forward to visiting Kimberly and hanging out with my BC family. And getting to see private screenings at the movie theatre and bowl afterwards was such a huge bonus to a gangly pre-teen! The last few times I had the pleasure of seeing Ray and Mavis in person, he passed on so many interesting facts about my grandfather and all his brothers that really filled in a lot of background details that I had never known. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult moment Mavis.
Dear Mavis, Patricia, and McNiven kin:
Our prayers are with you, for comfort and peace as you walk through this valley -- that you would know profoundly that the Lord is with you, His rod and His staff they will comfort you. (Psalm 23:4). with love, ever, Mary-Catherine and Stuart
My condolences to Mavis and her family on the passing of Ray. I have known both Ray and Mavis for many years starting out as their paper boy delivering the Kimberley News to them on Beale Ave in the mid nineteen fifties. Ray was my hockey coach in minor hockey and put me back on defense because of my size. Later on, they were clients of the accounting firm I worked for, and I looked after their accounting needs for a number of years when they owned the bowling alley. I was also a fan of the Kimberley Dynamiters when Ray was playing. Always enjoyed watching him, not very big but lots of talent even with the broken nose and the helmet. Take care Mavis and may Ray rest in peace.
